Liraz "Rose" De La Rosa
Originally created in 2024, current reference made in 2025
Character Summary
A leader of the La Santa Muerte cult and the head of the De La Rosa family, the Auditor runs a dark web production network to extend his reach and manipulate the beliefs of those around him to make the world bend to his whims. Liraz is someone who knows how his world works; belief can mean everything, and if enough people believe in something, it will become a reality. Plagued with the fact that the god he follows, formed from the belief of the struggle of twelve families decades ago, will consume his soul and those of the other twelve families, once death claims him, he works with the main leader, Zoe, to try to change their fate. Even if that means killing the god they follow. Rose is willing to be a lot of awful, terrible things; he will even fall into the belief of becoming sin itself if he must. Being a cattle for slaughter is something he refuses to be labeled. Liraz is physically weak due to issues from birth, including a metabolism that is too fast to retain a healthy amount of fat. However, he was born on Red Rose Day, which caused the belief of those around him to allow him to develop druid-like abilities. He uses these abilities to make an exoskeleton for himself under his clothes, so he can move around without much struggle and have easy access to use his abilities. Over the years, he gained the reputation of having ears everywhere, causing him to develop supernatural hearing that stretched out for miles. This hearing especially locks onto people who are talking about him, regardless of distance or volume spoken. These two abilities gained him the main title as "The Auditor", but also a secondary title, "The Botanist."
Design Process
Rose was a character who's design was originally made by a friend (c4rabus) for a different character associated with Rose. I was given the design to expand upon rose both with his physical appearance and his story. His design overall wasn't changed much from the original concept, but things were added to it to make it line up with his story. The biggest thing I added to his design was the embroidery on his jacket, used as a "symbol" for his family, and as an identifier as a leader in the cult he helps run. Beyond that, he was given a rather small and thin frame (though he does his best to hide these features through platform boots and an exoskeleton made of druid magic), and a more "uncanny valley" but pretty appearance to emphasize this concept that he's supposed to be something "not human" or like a devil poorly disguising itself as human, even if both concepts are "wrong" to what he actually is. Generally most of my work with Rose is his story though, which mostly is just extremely tragic and horrific. It makes him both a victim and a perpetrator to the core rule of his world setting: belief changes reality, even people. Even if it's for the absolute worse.
